Malleable
Arcane

An immersive luxury art experience built for Edition 01 — 25 glass sculptures, no provenance, no maker.

Project Overview

Malleable Arcane asked for something rare: a site that withholds as much as it reveals. The brief was an edition of 25 hand-cast glass sculptures — each unique, each unnamed by maker, each available by correspondence only. The design challenge was to make scarcity feel intentional, not absent. HoangCore designed and developed the complete experience from first concept to live deployment, coordinating across multiple stakeholders and vendors on a fast-tracked timeline.

The Challenge

01

Communicate luxury without traditional signals

No brand heritage. No maker name. No auction provenance. The site had to establish authority and desirability through form alone — typography, pacing, and restraint.

02

Coordinate across multiple vendors and stakeholders

The project involved external contributors alongside the client. HoangCore managed delivery across parties on a compressed schedule, maintaining design integrity throughout.

03

Make the inquiry process feel like a privilege

Acquisition is by correspondence only — no cart, no price, no instant checkout. The UX had to make that friction feel like curation, not inconvenience.

Every piece indexed, named, and presented — each with its own vitrine entry.

Craft Notes

Anonymity as a design system

The site's core constraint — no maker, no date, no provenance — had to be enforced systematically, not just editorially. Every interaction, from the catalogue index to the inquiry form, was designed to reinforce this absence as intentional mystique.

The vitrine experience

Each of the 25 sculptures receives its own 'now showing' spotlight — a single, full-bleed presentation with hour, form, and state metadata. The pacing of this feature was designed to slow the viewer down. Scarcity is felt in time, not just inventory.

Inquiry as interface

The contact form collects name, piece observed, and the hour of observation — not just an email. This transforms the acquisition process into a ritual that mirrors the editorial identity of the work.
